Our Engineering department is looking for a hands-on, technically driven and results-oriented Commissioning & Start-up Engineer who enjoys turning engineering projects into operational reality. What will you do?
As a Commissioning & Start-up Engineer, you play a impactful role in successfully execute the CAPEX projects at our manufacturing site in Nijmegen. From concept and feasibility to commissioning, start-up and handover, you ensure that new installations are ready to deliver safe, reliable and sustainable performance from day one.
In this role, you will:
Lead and coordinate commissioning and start-up activities for new equipment, systems and production processes.
Develop commissioning strategies, test plans and start-up approaches to ensure smooth project delivery.
Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Production, Maintenance, Quality, Automation, EHS and external suppliers.
Support factory and site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT), performance verification and operational readiness activities.
Troubleshoot technical issues during installation, commissioning and ramp-up, ensuring rapid resolution and minimal disruption.
Drive a structured handover from project execution into operations.
Evaluate new ideas and project opportunities by translating concepts into practical technical solutions and feasibility assessments.
Identify risks, operational impacts and improvement opportunities during project development and execution.
Contribute to continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and strengthening commissioning and start-up practices across the site.
This is a highly visible role where you can directly influence the success of major investments and help shape the future of one of Europe's most advanced infant nutrition production facilities.
Who are you?
You are an engineer who enjoys being close to the action. You combine technical expertise with a practical mindset and are motivated by solving complex challenges in a manufacturing environment.
In addition, you bring:
A Bachelor's or Master's thinking and working level in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Process, Industrial or Chemical Engineering.
Experience in commissioning, start-up, project engineering, technical troubleshooting or CAPEX project execution.
Experience within food, dairy, pharmaceutical, consumer goods or other regulated manufacturing environments is highly preferred.
Knowledge of commissioning methodologies, FAT/SAT activities and operational start-up processes.
Familiarity with GMP, food safety, EHS and validation principles.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
The ability to work effectively across multiple disciplines and stakeholders.
Excellent communication skills in both Dutch and English.
A proactive, structured and hands-on approach.
