Our R&D department is looking for a Product Development Scientist
As a Product Development Scientist you are part of our R&D department in Nijmegen. Along with the other Product Developers, you will be responsible for delivering Product Development Formulations. You will make use of internal and external technical resources, conduct experiments, perform technical assessments, implement product development from product concept, formulation design, lab prototype, pilot and plant trial to product launch.
What will you do?
- Responsible for delivering Product Development Formulations.
- Responsible for qualification and shelf life of raw materials, intermediate and final products, together with cross-functional teams, with a focus on physical, sensorial, and nutritional properties.
- Conduct experiments with/on emulsions and powders in our state of art R&D lab or at external facilities.
- Implement product development from product concept, formulation design, lab prototype, pilot and plant trial to product launch.
- Prepare and review technical documents necessary for each phase of product development.
- Prepare, attend and evaluate plant trials and first commercial productions of new products in Nijmegen plant or at third party manufacturers as part of cross-functional team.
- Support scouting for new ingredients for future innovations.
- Optimize product performance of existing products, this can be consumer, quality or cost driven.
Who are you?
- Master of Science degree in Food Technology/Food Science, Food Engineer, Chemical Engineering or any other Food Science related Master of Science degree.
- Approximately 3-7 years of experience in food/pharmaceutical/dairy manufacturing industry in R&D, QA or production function with experience in product development, particularly in product formulations.
- Knowledge of food science principles, product development principles, emulsions and powder technology.
- Experience with working in technical and cross functional project teams.
- Proven ability to design and evaluate products, with attention to details and strong analytical skills.
- Can influence decisions by clear and concise communication in technical topics to various audiences.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
